LocalShops1 launched this online marketplace in mid-April, smack in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, and we generated close to $6,500 in sales in the first month, all going directly to the sellers.
And though $6,500 in the first month is more than we had ever expected, we have much loftier goals!
All locally owned businesses may list and sell on our marketplace for free. LocalShops1 does not charge listing fees and we do not take cuts from sales. Payment goes directly to the sellers, so credit card transaction fees apply.
The Million-Dollar Mission
Join us in spreading the word, the #MillionDollarMission: Get 50,000 people to spend $20 directly with a local business through www.buylocaltampabay.com, and that will pump $1 million into our local economy.
We have partnered with I Love the Burg, the area's largest independent social media network, and the St. Petersburg City Council has approved a resolution in support of our mission!!
ALL local community and business organizations and industry/trade groups are invited to join as promotional sponsors. There are no fees involved -- just a commitment to get the word out.
Please check out our wonderful partners below, and contact us for more information if you'd like to join our coalition.
This is a grassroots collaborative effort, and together we can make a difference and help speed up the local economic recovery.
